Q1 trailerable modification details?

More

I'm trying to find some detailed instructions for doing the trailerable modification to a Quickie 1. I have seen the QAC newsletter (#2 pg4) which shows approximately where the cut line should be made, along with the promise that detailed information will be sent out to current builders.
Does anyone have these detailed instructions, or does it have to be interpolated from the Q2 instruction set?
Thanks.

Hey Robert,
Don't worry, I haven't forgotten about you. I did some asking around and there were a separate set of instructions put out for making the Q1 fuselage trailerable. Unfortunately, I don't have a set, but I'm hoping that one of the Q1 guys that I've asked will be able to provide them to me. Wehn that happens, I'll post them online for you and everyone else.

Let me know when you're thinking about going to get that kit.

Thanks,

I'm kicking myself for not copying that sheet before I sold my Quickie. The data isn't available online afaik. Parts for the trailer mod cost me around $130.00 from Wicks in 2005. According to the emailed receipt I still have here the bits ordered were:

The compass and voltmeter were missing on the aircraft, so you won't need them obviously. Note that no resin or hardener was ordered due to hazardous shipping issues with airlines. Also I bought enough cloth to repair the broken tail so you'll probably need less than this.

Dan, you might be able to get Mark Fitzgerald to scan it for you, if he's still around. He bought that machine.

OK, I found the trailer mod plans!

There are two different versions of the plans as a PDF file. One is 5.22Mb and the other is 11.2Mb. The latter has the details inserted after page 7.13 at the end of chapter 7.

If you don't have this version of the file, just ask.

Hey Robert/Haiqu,
After I got your original e-mail, I queried the group and Leon McAtee stepped up and wrote better Fuselage Split plans for the Q1. I included them in Issue 145 of Q-talk. You can find it in the Q-talk archive if you're a current member:

www.quickheads.com/q-talk-145-better-q1-...age-split-plans.html

At the bottom of that article is also a link to a scan of the original plans put out by QAC including the Materials list mentioned above.

Haiqu, can you send me the plans that you have, and I will add them to the QBA Resources page.

Hope this helps, please let me know.

Thanks,
