Hey Gang!

The Livermore tandem wing fly-in is only days away.

For several years in a row I was asked to bring my Corvair engine(s) and
give a presentation on installing the engine in a Q or DF. This year was no
exception, however scheduling conflicts (and the fact that my engine is
broke) preclude me from attending. :(

But in my place I have arranged for much better, on multiple levels.

The first bit of good news is that a local CH601 builder, Richard Vetterli,
has offered to bring his running engine, as installed on his airframe, for a
hard-core show-and-tell. His engine is running and as his note to me says,
'My Corvair is mounted on my 601 fuselage and running. If I can get one of
my club members to help me with the club trailer, I could have my 90%
complete plane at the airport on Friday & Saturday and we can run the engine
as many times as you like.' (I sent him a reply stating that Saturday only
would be fine).

In addition to Richard, Rick Lindstrom of KITPLANES Magazine is planning to
fly his award winning Corvair powered 601 to the event to assist Richard
with his/their presentation and may end up with an article for his magazine
out of the deal.

I hope things go well for everyone involved, and I hope that by inviting
these two fine gentlemen to our event that I've made up for my lack of
physical support this year. The Livermore tandem wing event has always been
the highlight of my fly-in season, partly due to the close proximity to my
home, partly due to the glorious weather that part of the state sees this
time of year, but mostly due to the great bunch of folk I get to play
airplane with. :)
