Q1_Aircraft: VW engines was created by davedrosen
All,
I'm searching for engines, at this point, to replace the non-
exsistant hexadyne engine. I have some vw questions. Isn't it a bit
heavy for the hp. Why just use the 1600 if the next size up or two
weighs the same. What about PRSU's. How does the GPlains engines
compare to AeroVee etc. How fast did a Q cruse with a VW, with and
without a prsu? How are they mounted? does one use rubber mounts on the
firewall? Is there any good reference for installation advice for a Q1?
Thanks,
Dave R.

Hexatron NOT--Gotta sue them for my deposit back.

Ben,

Yes, I like that engine a lot and have been talking to them (email).
They are going to have pricing, they said, in Feb for the ultralight
version. The single rotor aviation version was 12K. This eliminated it from
my list. Then December I saw they were advertising the ultralight vesion,
which I'm waiting on a quote. I have to take hexatron engineering to small
claims court to get my deposit back before I spend a whole bunch of money on
an engine. I also will only buy an engine who can deliver and has delivered
engines. That said, I think their engine would be perfect for my
application.

For what it's worth, I'm heading to Rotomax on Feb 11 to tour their shop and
write and article for CONTACT! Magazine. It will appear in either the very
next issue or the one just before SnF.

Are there any particulars you'd like me to find out?

Pat

Pat,

Thanks, I'd appreciate that. I'm concerned about mounting.
What about oil, does one need to mix it like a two stroke? I'm like to
verify that they have airplanes flying, are actually delivering engines. Do
they have an installation manual? How are the doc's.

Thanks

Dave R.

PS I would consider subscribing. Send info off line to me, thanks

Hi Dave,

Need a photographer/lacky?

I'm about 2 hours South of Rotamax. I'm on the verge of losing my medical
and struggling to find a project that I can fly. After 35 years of flying,
55 types, 5500 hours I am not going to see my flying come to an end over
some medical technicality. I won't be grounded without a fight!

I've always been interested in the rotary engine for aviation and have been
following this engine for a couple of years. They are working with at least
one LSA.

I'm considering a gyro with this engine.
