Hi guys,

I'm considering an Ivoprop for my Quickie (yet to arrive) and wondered
about clearances to the ground. The smallest they make is 48' but the
original QAC prop was the Cowley 42 x 30 and the only other one I have
a record of being used is a Ritz 44 x 22. Am I going to have clearance
issues? Anything else I should know about?

Rob and all,

I too am interested in props at this time. I am considering the
powerfin. I look in the Qbuilders website data base and saw that most
props listed on flying airplanes, most with the rotax 2 stroke
engine, varied from 48 to 52 inches. I'd like to know, is the 2
stroke plans everyone use put the prop in the same position as the
Onan was? What is a good rule of thumb for prop clearance to the
ground when the firewall is perpendicular to the ground? Is the onan
42 ' prop due to the low power of the engine? I mounted and designed
my engine to put the prop at the level of the ownan prop, but once I
did that I moved the engine up 2 ' which looks better and lets me use
a larger prop.

Hi Dave,

Looks like you're making great progress there. I'd like to challenge
you to a race to the flying stage, but I fear you'd win ... mine's
still in NZ and I'm having a devil of a time finding a good shipping
company. But I've made a list of bits needed and enlisted some advice
on repairing the tail. Much paperwork done as well. The target is this
time next year, what about you?

Rob
p.s. Panel? If you mean instrument panel, I can't find a photo of it.

Hi Dave,

Yep, I like it ... looks very complete and functional.

Why not build your own half-VW and save about $6k ??

Rob,
I put the instrument panel in the files section because
it's a pdf file I generated from panel planner. My biggest
problem will be the $8000 for the engine, that's a big
ouch. When people as how long I have to go to finish, I
say $8000. But that said I hope to purchase the engine
this spring or summer max.
