Hi,

Does anyone know what changes QAC made to the stock Onan B48M engine
before supplying it as part of their kits?

Rob,

I am not sure if there is a definative list of mods but included were
the fitment of custom exhausts, higher compression heads, the prop
extension (with the partial attempt to balance the engine), provision
for a 'backplate engine mount' and some rudimentary cleanup between
the fins. I suspect ( but do not know for sure) that there was a
change made to the carburetor and/or the inlet manifold.

Hi John,

You still planning to install an HKS?

John,

Thanks, and I've discovered a few more items by reading the Quicktalk
newsletters. But it has also convinced me that unless someone hands me
an Onan complete with mounts and prop for free I probably should use
almost anything else.

John,

That could be a while. I believe the EZ was listed as 70% complete in
1997, from internet records. And speaking of helos, what are your
thoughts on the Benson gyro? I know where there's a complete and
partially-completed kit _really_ cheap.

Also, any clues on shipping my Quickie from eNZed?? I've drawn a blank
with mosty of the shipping companies ... they all either want it
crated (frechrissakes!!) or in it's own container, either of which is
'orribly expensive. I can ship it from Tauranga or Napier; it's
currently in Taupo but the seller is willing to take it to the docks
and load it for me.
