tail spring options??

I have started my Q1 rebuild, lots to do,all the control surfaces need redone along with the control linkage throughout. repower and on and on.
as i was stripping the aircraft the tail seemed to sag. so i removed it and found it broken just inside the tailcone. my qeustion is, what is the best way to replace the tail spring? is the plans built version best?(looks weak!)or is there a better option thats in use by some one?
