Quickie Design Improvements

This topic will be a place to discuss possible improvements to the basic Quickie design. The idea came about after I started reading Q-Talk back issues and saw all the neat changes that bulders had made over the years. Many of the ideas used on the Q2 and Q200 could also be used in the single-seat design. OK, so let's start.

The first of these is the tailwheel modification. Part of the famous "Jim-Bob Sixpack" for the Q2 involves adding another bellcrank to ensure that rudder control is maintained in the case of a broken tailspring. This is certainly a worthwhile change, with the added benefit that the joins at that point can be disconnected when the aircraft is disassembled for trailering, thus avoiding the inline joints.

Another idea I discussed with another builder a couple of years ago is a polyethylene fuel tank. This could probably be made quite cheaply, and totally avoids the whole problem of leakage and foam deterioration experienced by some unfortunate builders. It could even be made removable, so it could be taken to a filling station for auto gas.

All-righty then, let's hear some of your bright ideas!
