QUICKIE BUILDERS ASSOCIATION
|
INTRODUCTION
by Robert Herd
Well, Oshkosh is just a few weeks away and we hope the majority of you have the opportunity to attend. This year promises to be one of blossoming for our aircraft. After somewhat meager attendance by completed Quickies in 1980 and 1981, our informal poll seems to show that we will have numerical strength this time around. Don't be surprised at several plans-built Q2's on the ramp also. We are looking forward to that not-fully-describable week of airplane overindulgence where "grandiose" is a bit of an understatement.
Speaking of events, QBA has arranged to have Forum Tent #3 reserved for Tuesday night (August 3) at 8:00 pm. Mark this on your daily schedule of events. It should prove very valuable for all concerned. Builders will have a chance to express candid views among themselves while giving the QBA staff an opportunity to find out the directions our members wish to take. A side benefit will allow you to match faces to all those notable builder hints.
To help everyone meet builders on a more informal basis, a sign-up roster for QBA members will be posted in the lobby of Gruenhagen Hall. Just drop by when you register at the University of Wisconsin and leave your name and room number. Feel free to look up other members during the week to review the finer points of hangar flying.
Finally, we would welcome your subtle recruiting efforts for QBA while chatting around the display grounds. We have grown tremendously due to word-of-mouth and appreciate your efforts to see us expand. Jim and I will look forward to meeting with many of you during Oshkosh Week and hope that you will take the time to give us your ideas.
