Issue 142

Hey Member,
This issue is full of firsts for me! My first Tandem Wing Fly-in. My first sighting of a Q actually in flight, and my first flight in that same airplane!

All of the above "firsts" caused me a little bit of embarrassment since I am the editor of the Quickie Builders Association after all. I had to keep telling myself that it's about "Quickie Builders" and not just "Quickie Flyers." LOL!

At any rate, this issue marks a very important FIRST for me as editor. It's the first time that I received contributions from other QBA members! Thanks so much guys! I really do appreciate the support! (It makes the "Association" bit mean a little more too!)

To show my appreciation for their generous contributions I am extending the membership of Sam Hoskins, and Mike Evans by 3 months. Since Doug Humble is a lifetime member, I have extended his LIFE by 3 months! KARMA is awesome isn't it?

Make sure you check out all three of those articles, and let them know what a great job they did! And as always, if you'd like to join in on the good KARMA please feel free to submit an article (or some pictures) for the next newseltter.

I look forward to hearing from each and every one of you! Especially YOU! LOL!

Remember, "Together we build better planes" (and websites.)

Warm regards,
Dan Yager
QBA Editor

Controlling Vacuum!

Mike Evans built a nifty little vaccum controller with "off the shelf" parts. Now he's vacuum bagging like the pros. (But it's still amateur built!)

Sam's Aux Tank

A question on the Q-list prompted Sam Hoskins to write in about how he constructed his auxillary fuel tank in the baggage compartment.

YouTube Gems

Every once in a while I stumble across a real peach of a video on YouTube. This particular video features a much younger Burt Rutan and a future civilian Astronaut!

Archive Update!

All of Doug Humble's and Susie and Dave Richardson's Q-talk back issues are now posted in the online archive! That's almost 10 years of searchable text!

Check it out!

You can see all of the photos I took during Livermore in the new gallery. Make sure you check out the odometer on Alan Thayer's car. . . Almost half a million! Holy Cow!
