Q-talk 121 - Farm Shed Find Down Under

I'm a new Q-talk member and a huge fan of the Quickie aircraft. I got a lead a month ago that there was a Quickie Q1 built in my home town in South Australia. Rumor has it that it was the first one to ever fly in Australia. It was built by Gordon Laubsch, who died in a Flying Flea crash six years ago. After making some calls, I found his son and in turn the Q1. It was sitting in an old farm shed gathering dust.

It was built in 1985. It has a Rotax 503 that has about 200 hours on it, but hasn't run in 6 years. The airframe is a bit rough and the paint work is a bit sad, but it all looks straight. It has had a ground loop that snapped the fin off. I'm excited to get to work on its restoration. Here are a few pictures of how I found it.
