When you are in the finishing mode, the outer surface of the fiberglass will have slight bumps that you have to sand off. Be careful to not damage the glass; don't sand too much. Then get a perfectly straight aluminum tool (an aluminum level works) and push it back and forth across the "straight" surface. The aluminum will wear off the tool and deposit a residue on the fiberglass. Any gray/black spots that appear are high spots.
