QuickTalk 5 - COMPONENT PART WEIGHT SURVEY

Well, it's often said that "the Lord helps those who help themselves" and it seems to me that this survey works just that way. We haven't helped ourselves much in the sparse response to our weight survey (Issue #2). But here are the results. The average weight of all parts weighed is listed first followed by the number of parts submitted in parentheses. Ailerons and elevators show up more abundantly since there are usually two per response and both are constructed identically to the raw state.

Aircraft empty weights are highly individualized due to infinite possibilities in equipment and upholstery, but note that no one so far has approached QAC's expected weight.

There are many subtle variables that can occur in an individual's reported weights, but it is hoped that averaging a large number will minimize these. , don't regard these figures as absolute and cast in stone tablets. This survey will be continued and refined with periodic updates in QUICKTALK if you agree by your future participation. Continue to send future weights to me or the QBA office. (Jim Masal)
